Tehran Declares It Could Rejoin US Atomic Negotiations if Treated with 'Respect' and 'Honor'

Tehran is prepared to resume atomic talks with Washington as long as it is approached with "respect" and "honor", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

The Iranian diplomat stated exclusively dialogue was effective, and revealed recent overtures had originated from mediators to reopen discussions with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran did not have secret atomic facilities, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Difficult Course

Araghchi is walking a complex course since Iran does not want be seen to be operating from a stance of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged more powerful in military terms and psychologically from the joint assault on its atomic facilities in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an inalienable right to process nuclear material on home soil that it will always maintain" – the main reason of the stalemate in the earlier negotiations.

Earlier Negotiations Unexpectedly Ended

The previous five rounds of talks between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and hostile end on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a two-week conflict that concluded with the US president claiming the facilities had been eliminated. Afterward, EU nations employed their privilege to reinstate UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Proposed

Tehran representatives stated they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could function on Iranian soil, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Diplomats stated three times they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the arrangement to collapse due to "detractors in America".

Present Status

Tehran representatives stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the proposal could be revived in certain ways if negotiations resume.

The American leader recently said he had been getting signals that Iran desired to reopen negotiations, but in private Iran's diplomats claim they are not yet getting coherent offers from the United States either straightforwardly or from key regional mediators, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign ministry has been criticized of non-responsiveness in the wake of the US president's straightforward manner, but Tehran says dialogue is not part of a performance.

Negotiating Position

In his address to the conference, intended to depict the US as a controlling nation that abuses the notion of international law, Araghchi stated the 12-day war showed the conflict could not be resolved by military means. He said the strikes commenced with a American requirement for an total Iran submission and ended with an unconditional call for a truce.

Iran is certain the first strikes by Israel were executed with full US knowledge and coordination, making trust challenging to restore.

Negotiations Continues the Final Answer

The foreign minister stated: "Tehran was not the one that had fled negotiations; it was America and the European states that had consistently sought to dictate their desires during the talks. Dialogue can still be active and remains the ultimate answer to settle disagreements, but its standards, regulations and tenets must be adhered to."

"Provided that they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the approach of dignity and honor, they will obtain a answer in the identical tone."

Recovery and Rebuilding

In what is characterized by Tehran representatives as the battle of recovery and rebuilding, Araghchi claimed he was confident Iran's defence capabilities "are considerably enhanced than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We acquired multiple understandings from this conflict; we have discovered our personal limitations and the weaknesses of the adversary."

He continued: "We successfully passed this conflict. Our atomic expertise, which they aimed to eliminate, remains in place. The sites and gear, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is essential is the determination of the nation of Iran and then the social solidarity that they targeted, but were unable to break. The nation of Iran have developed more powerful, more integrated, and more backing of the leadership and the country in the wake of this assault."
